You already know more than you think
Why do I feel so clear one minute… and then second-guess myself the next?
I’ve asked myself that question before.
And what I realized over time is that it wasn’t really about the decision. It was about whether I trusted myself enough. There have been times in my life where I had the knowledge, the experience, and the ability to figure things out… and still hesitated. The pause was there; I still looked outside of myself longer than I needed to.
The truth is I had the answers all along. The hesitation was not because I didn’t know. It was because I wasn’t fully trusting myself. I’ve had to learn how to come back to that. And what I’ve learned is that trusting yourself isn’t something you just decide once.
It’s something you build over time and it is a decision you make daily. Every time you follow through on what you said you were going to do it strengthens your sense of self. You build it when you listen to your own thinking instead of immediately overriding it. You anchor it when you decide what comes next and allow that decision to be yours—even if it’s not perfect.
Trusting yourself gives you back your power. It builds your emotional resilience and expands your confidence. We each have a deep sense of what is true and right for us in most situations. And maybe we don’t always get it right, but the move was right for us in the moment. We can always adjust, recalibrate, and just keep moving. Because part of trusting yourself is trusting that you can handle what happens next.
Trusting yourself is the only way to live a truly authentic life. This awareness has helped me come back to me time and time again. When I notice that I’ve drifted away from what I truly want. It’s easy to drift sometimes. It happens when we ignore our needs and say yes when we know we shouldn’t or when we push past something that feels off. Those moments matter.
And so do the ones where you choose differently.
For me, the shift occurs not because I have more certainty. It comes when I get really honest with myself and get more connected to my own thinking. That’s where the steadiness comes from.
The only thing that matters is how you design your life. Because if you’re not holding the pen, someone else is writing your narrative. It’s time to pay more attention, make decisions based on your values, desires and boundaries. And be unapologetic about it.
You don’t need to overhaul your entire life at once. No need to try and fix everything all at once. Forward movement is always accomplished by taking one step at a time, so start by asking yourself this question:
Do I already know what I want to do here?
And then give yourself the chance to listen to your own voice. Because the answer is always the same.
Yes, I know what to do.
This is a big part of the work I do with my clients. Supporting and helping leaders quiet the noise, reconnect to their own thinking, and make decisions from a place of clarity and alignment—not pressure or second-guessing. Because when you trust yourself, everything else becomes simpler. If that’s something you’re ready for, I’d love to support you.
You can schedule a conversation with me anytime. It’s a space for you to think out loud, get clear, and start moving forward with more confidence in yourself.
