The Power of Your Energy

I’ve been thinking a lot about energy lately—not in a big, abstract way, but in the very real sense of how we show up each day.

I notice it in myself. When my energy is off, everything feels harder. I’m less patient. Less focused. More easily distracted. And when my energy is supported, even challenging days feel more manageable.

It’s been a helpful reminder that how we feel has a lot to do with how we move through our lives.

Energy and Mindset Are Always Connected

What I keep coming back to is how closely energy and mindset are linked.

When I’m tired, overwhelmed, or stretched too thin, my thinking follows suit. Small things feel bigger than they need to. Decisions take longer. Confidence wavers.

But when I’m taking care of myself—sleeping better, moving my body, fueling myself well, creating space to breathe—my mindset shifts. I respond instead of react. I stay more grounded. I trust myself more.

It’s not about being positive all the time. It’s about being aware of what our energy is telling us.

The Energy We Bring Is Felt

I’ve also been paying attention to how much energy shows up in our relationships.

You can feel it when someone walks into a room calm and present. And you can feel it when someone is carrying stress or exhaustion—even if nothing is said.

The same is true for us.

Whether we’re leading a team, building a business, or navigating relationships at home, the energy we bring sets a tone. People don’t just hear what we say—they feel who we are.

That awareness alone can change how we show up.

Productivity Follows Energy, Not Pressure

For a long time, I believed productivity came from pushing harder. More discipline. More structure.

But I’ve learned that when my energy is low, productivity feels forced. Focus slips. Procrastination creeps in. And when my energy is supported, things flow more naturally. I focus better. I make clearer decisions. I stop overthinking everything.

Instead of asking, “Why can’t I get more done?” I’ve learned to ask, “What is my energy telling me right now?”

Being Intentional With Energy Is a Practice

None of this is about perfection. It’s about attention.

Some days it’s movement. Other days it’s rest. Sometimes it’s better food, better boundaries, or simply saying no sooner than usual.

Often, it’s reconnecting to why I’m doing what I’m doing in the first place.

Small, intentional choices—made consistently—have a powerful impact on how we feel and how we lead.

What I Know to Be True

Our energy isn’t just a byproduct of our lives. It’s a force that shapes them.

When we take responsibility for our energy—physically, emotionally, and mentally—we show up differently. We lead more clearly. We connect more deeply. We move forward with greater ease.

Not because life gets easier—but because we’re more grounded within it.

A Reflection to Sit With

As you move through the week, ask yourself:
Where does my energy feel supported right now—and where might it need more care or protection?

There’s no right or wrong answer. Just awareness. And awareness is always where change begins.
